If you are an Airman (FAA license) and were arrested for DUI it is essential you exercise the proper steps when facing a DUI arrest.
If you are a pilot (airman) and have been arrested for a Washington State DUI, these are the steps you need to be aware of:
1) If you have any upcoming medical evaluation, you must report the arrest (even if there has been no conviction). It is likely that if your BAC was under .15 on a first offense you will not face any revocation of your Medical by the FAA, but everything with the FAA is on a case by case basis.
2) Within 60 days from the date of an alcohol-related conviction OR administrative action (DOL license suspension) you must report it via a Notification Letter to the FAA's Security and Investigations Division. In 14 CFR 61.15(c), alcohol-related convictions or administrative actions refer to motor vehicle actions (MVA).
